Footprints' itineraries are concentrated in the highlands of the Great Rift Valley, the progenitor of the solitary volcanic peaks, the escarpments and the expansive plains.
There is probably no other region in the world where the hot and dry of the desert, the floral richness of the rain forest and the stark cold of the Arctic are within a few driving or even walking hours of each other. <continued>

Your Footprints itinerary can be tailored to match your interests, time constraints and fitness level. The sample itineraries below, however, provide a starting point and may help you to build a clearer idea of what you envision for your own Africa adventure.

Heart of Africa1. Heart of Africa

Length: 24 days
Fitness Level: Moderate

The "Heart of Africa" itinerary is so named because the source of the Nile River is one of the destinations. While the Nile gave rise to one of the earliest human civilizations 5000 years ago, Its source was only legend in Europe until 200 years ago. <continued>


Highlands of Kenya2. Escape to the Highlands of Kenya

Length: 21 days
Fitness Level: Moderate

Are you longing to see the great animals of the Serengeti, the million flamingoes of Lake Nakuru and the grandeur of Mt. Kenya?

"Escape to the Highlands of Kenya" is designed to maximize opportunities to walk in a wide variety of settings from game reserves, to lakeshores and mountains. <continued>

Length: 19 days

Does high adventure with a chance to explore your hiking fitness appeal to you?

This itinerary invovles hiking up Africa's two highest mountains, Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Kenya, by challenging routes. <continued>


Flamingo4. Birdwatching in the Great Rift Valley

Length: 16 days
Fitness Level: Moderate

These 16-day itineraries, including a first and last night in Nairobi, allow opportunities to see birdlife in several distinctly different habitats in central and western Kenya.

Famed ornithologist Roger Tory Peterson once said it was possible to see as many different species in one day in East Africa as one could see in a year in northern Europe or the northern part of North America. <continued>


Cycling Image 5. Cycling in remote Kenya

Length: 16 Days
Fitness Level: Moderate

The biking feature is for recreational cyclists wanting to 'stretch' their legs with another form of exercise along with walking. Bicycle sojourns will replace some safari bus riding on out of the way dirt roads in deep desert valleys, high mountains and low key game reserves. But not missing, will be a taste of the popular iconic sights of Africa featured in other itineraries. <continued>
